Colonel Santosh Babu's Last Words With His Parents

The border tensions between China and India escalated quickly with Chinese troops allegedly trying to enter Indian territory resulting in a violent standoff. In the standoff, 20 Indian Soldiers and 43 Chinese Soldiers were killed.

Indian Army Colonel Santosh Babu, along with 19 other soldiers were martyred by the Chinese troops in the Glawan Valley of eastern Ladakh.

Colonel Santosh who was a Commanding officer from 16 Bihar Regiment hails from the Suryapet Town of Telangana. He joined the Army according to their parent’s wish.

With the news of Santosh Babu's martyr broke out, the locals started rushing to the residence of the late Colonel. As the rush increasing rapidly, police put up barricades to avoid the crowd from reaching his house.

He spoke to his parents over the phone on the 14th of June, sadly which turned out as his last words. "You sent me to Army, now let me do my duty," he said.

When his parents asked him about the situation at the border, Santosh told his parents that they are not supposed to ask such confidential information and added that everything is fine there.

Santosh Babu was a student of Sainik School, Korukunda where he studied from class 6th to 12th. Foundation for his journey to the defence sector started there who ultimately made to the Indian armed forces in the year 2003.
