Congress, JDS Fail 'Chemistry' Test

Update: 2019-10-02 06:39 GMT
Four months after it lost badly to the BJP, the Congress in Karnataka has realised what went wrong in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Four long months of study has shown that the Congress has failed the 'Chemistry' examination. It has realised that there was no chemistry between the Janata Dal Secular of HD Deve Gowda and the Congress Party.

A 63 page report submitted by a study team of the Congress has said that the JDS - Congress chemistry did not work. In fact, the JDU has fare very badly in wherever it contested and that the Congress voters did not vote for the JDS where it was in the fray. The same happened for the Congress where it contested. The JDS voters did not vote for them.  The party study report has also noted that wherever the JDS contested, there was a 17-20 vote swing in favour of the BJP.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP got a staggering 51.40 per cent votes, while the Congress got 31.88 per cent and the JDS got 9.68 per cent votes. The report said that the two parties had got less votes than what they got in the assembly elections. If the vote percentage polled by the Congress and the JDS in the assembly elections was added up, it should have gone up to 57 per cent. But, this did not happen. The BJP won 23 out of 25 seats and an independent supported by it has also won. The Congress could win only one seat.

So, after a year-and-a-half of staying together, the parties have realised that their marriage did not work.
