Congress fares better than BJP in Telangana civic polls

Update: 2021-05-05 05:11 GMT
The Congress cadre is now feeling the pinch of lack of direction and total absence of leadership in the party in Telangana. In the two municipal corporations and five municipalities that went to polls recently, the party had lost badly.

Its performance is way too below par in all places except Atchampet. In Atchampet alone the party had put up a decent show. In Siddipet, Nakrekal and Kothur, the party fared very poorly. In both the corporations, the situation is none too encouraging. In Warangal, the party stood third in most constituencies. In some, it came fourth.  Even in Warangal East, which is being nurtured by Konda Surekha and Konda Murali, the situation is no better.

However, in most municipalities except Siddipet, the party did better than the BJP. For instance, in Jadcherla, the Congress got 27.11 per cent votes as against the BJP's 13.62 per cent. In Atchampet too, the Congress got 34.5 per cent while the BJP got just 12 per cent.
