Rahul Isn't PM Candidate: Congress

Update: 2018-10-22 15:46 GMT
Former Union Minister P Chidambaram stunned everyone by conveying that Congress Party hasn't officially declared Rahul Gandhi as its Prime Ministerial Candidate. He informed AICC asked Party Leaders, who came up with the proposal of making Rahul PM Candidate in the 2019 Lok Sabha Polls, not to talk about it.

Chidambaram made it clear Prime Ministership wasn't so important for the Congress Party. He told, 'Our main aim would be to defeat BJP and establish a Government which safeguards human rights and doesn't indulge in tax terrorism. Congress Alliance Partners will decide who should be the Prime Minister after the elections'.

Congress slipped to record low in 2014 by winning less than 50 seats. Although the strength has been improved in the past four years, Still the Main Opposition mayn't be able to win more than 150 MP Seats if the recent Survey Results are any indications. Alliance Partners of Congress such as TMC, NCP, DMK, SP, BSP and AAP can alone decided who should be PM if UPA attains the required majority. If Congress announces PM Candidate in advance, Sharad Pawar, Mamta Banerjee and Mayawati who aspires to be Prime Minister of India mayn't accept it. This is why Congress decide to wait for the right time to project Rahul as PM.
