Update: 2019-06-02 16:22 GMT
Congress Party made it clear that it won't stake claim for the post of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha after falling 2 seats short of the required tally (54).

As per the norms, A Party needs to win 10 percent of 545 MP Seats to qualify for the post of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

In 2014 Polls, Congress fell short of the half century mark...to be precise 44. In the recent Lok Sabha Elections, It managed to get only 52 seats.

Mallikarjun Kharge served as the Leader of the Congress party in Lok Sabha from 2014 to 2019. He, however, was denied Leader of Opposition Status because of the low tally.

Who will be serving as the Leader of Congress Party in the Lower House until 2024? Will it be Rahul Gandhi or someone else? Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi is going to take a final call.
