Congress stands third even in these elections

Update: 2021-12-18 11:49 GMT
It appears the Congress is surely losing the plot in Telangana. Despite having about 20 per cent of solid vote bank, the party seems to be floundering and slipping to also-ran position. The party's dismal performance in Dubbak, Nagarjunaagr, Huzurabad, GHMC and the MLC elections seems to be having a snowballing effect. The party slowly but surely is slipping into the third position.

The Pennar Industries in Patancheru had its union elections on Friday. The TRS, which is in power in the state, has used all resources at its command and managed to win the union elections. TRS candidate Rambabu Yadav has won by a margin of 148 votes defeating the Left-backed CITU. Patancheru MLA G Mahipal Reddy left no stone unturned to ensure a TRS victory.

Of the total 580 votes, the TRS polled 332 votes, CITU candidate C Ramulu got 184 votes. But it is the Congress Party has ended up with a bloody nose. The Congress candidate, who is also the party's Patancheru Assembly constituency, K Srinivas Goud got just 63 votes and stood a poor third. This has left the Congress cadres shocked and surprised.

Interestingly, in the 2018 assembly elections, Srinivas Goud was the Congress Party candidate from Patancheru. He stood second by polling over 78000 votes. But, in this union elections in the same constituency, he ended up getting just 63 votes.  Many political analysts say that it has become a habit for the Congress Party to remain at the third position in the state.
