Controversial Congress Leader Makes Anti-Woman Remarks Yet Again, Apologizes Later
The lawmakers should watch their words, particularly when it's related to women. A Congress leader has spoken out of the context and landed in an unwanted controversy for passing misogynist comments about women.
Going into detail, former Lok Sabha member and chief of Kerala Congress wing Mullapally Ramachandran, who addressed a gathering has made controversial statements on rape complainants.
Addressing the gathering, the former Lok Sabha said that a woman with self-respect will end her life if she gets raped and added that no one will trust a woman who says she was raped.
Ramachandran made these misogynistic statements while condemning the sexual assault allegations of Saritha Nair, who alleged that Congress leader and former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy sexually assaulted her.
Talking further, referring to Saritha Nair he said she is alleging that she has been raped by someone or the other and maintained that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) has brought her to defame UDF.
Minutes later, Ramchandran apologized for his controversial statements on the same stage and said that he is sorry if the statements he made were against women.
However, this is not the first time, the former Lok Sabah made controversial statements. Referring to Covid-19 handling in the state, he addressed Minister for Women and Child Development KK Shailaja as 'Covid Queen' and 'Nipah princess'.
