In a clear case of political vendetta, over 40 policemen, many of them in mufti clothes, descended on the office of sensational YouTuber and political activist Teenmaar Mallanna aka Navin Kumar on Tuesday night and conducted a raid on his premises. The premises are being used as the office of Q News Channel that Mallanna runs in Medipalli area under Uppal constituency.
Though the police raid was conducted on the basis of a complaint filed by an ex-employee of the channel, the raid had clear political overtones. The police took away computer hard discs and other equipment from the office. The raids, which began on Tuesday afternoon, continued till Wednesday morning.
On his part, Mallanna managed to gather a crowd of supporters, who raised slogans against KCR and the police for what they called the âhigh-handed attitude." Surprisingly, a large number of BJP workers and leaders, including Dubbak MLA Raghunandan Rao, former Uppal MLA NVSS Prabhakar, BJP leader Bhanu Prakash came to the Q News Office and staged a protest against the police action.
Teenmaar Mallanna has shown his mettle by emerging the runnerup in the recent Graduate MLC elections. He polled more votes than the Congress and the BJP and gave a tough fight to TRS candidate Palla Rajeshwar Reddy. Mallanna has been a vociferous critic of the KCR government. He has emerged as one of the most recognizable faces among the anti-TRS forces.
