The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS) in Telangana has turned 20 years on Monday but the celebrations of the foundation day turned out as a low key affair as the lockdown norms were active across the nation.
The low key celebrations took place at the Telangana Bhavan headed by the party supremo, CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao in a very brief ceremony. KCR started the party in 2001 with a sole aim to gain statehood for the Telangana on the grounds of the culture and language.
In the brief ceremony that lasted for five minutes, the party flag was hoisted by KCR and all the attendees of the ceremony can be seen wearing face masks and maintaining social distancing with other leaders.
As part of the ceremony, CM KCR has garlanded the statue of Telangana Talli and Professor Jayashankar, the ideologue of Telangana who has a greater impact on KCR in the fight for the state. The leaders also raised 'Jai Telangana' slogans.
"The TRS government has not just solved decades old problems faced by the people of the state but also has been implementing several welfare schemes and developmental programmes, becoming a role model for the entire nation. This is a proud moment for the TRS as well as the people of the state," TRS supremo KCR said.
