The Congress stock, it appears, has come down drastically. The party isn't getting too many corporate donations. According to a report by the Association For Democratic Reforms (ADR), the Congress party got just Rs 11 crore from corporates.
It is well-known that the corporates form electoral trusts to donate to various political parties. This will help the parties fund their activities. According to the ADR report for 2017-18, various corporate companies have given donations to a tune of Rs 194 crore to various political parties. Of this, Rs 167.80 crore worth of donations went into the BJP kitty. This leaves Rs 25.98 crore, which are shared by all political parties including the Congress, NCP, National Conference and Biju Janata Dal. The Congress got just Rs 11 crore, while regional party BJP got Rs 14 crore. This shows that the donations to the Congress are lesser than those of the BJP. This shows the Congress stock is falling in the Indian political theatre.
Among the corporates, Bharti Airtel donated Rs 25.005 crore to various political parties, while real estate biggie DLF donated Rs 25 crore. UPL is in the third position with Rs 20 crore worth of donations.
