Could Congress Win Gujarat If AAP Did Not Contest?

Update: 2022-12-16 15:46 GMT
The recent general elections once again proved that Gujarat is a strong fort for the Bharatiya Janata Party. The saffron party won the elections in the state for the seventh consecutive term. The BJP won the elections with a record number of seats. Even in Muslim-dominated areas, the BJP emerged victorious.

The grand old Congress party lost the elections cheaply and the dip in the number of MLA seats compared to the previous elections raised many eyeballs. In the previous elections, the Congress party won over 70 seats and in recent polls, it barely managed to get 17 seats.

Now Congress MP Rahul Gandhi made some interesting comments on Gujarat Polls. He said that if the AAP was not in the polls then it would have defeated the BJP in the general elections.

Using the same-old attack of Congress, Rahul Gandhi alleged that AAP is the B-team of the BJP and if not for the AAP then Congress would have defeated the BJP in the recent polls. "In Gujarat, AAP was the proxy," former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi said.

In the recent polls, the BJP recorded more than half of the votes with 52.52 vote percentage. On the other hand, the Congress party managed to get 27.3 percent. In many seats, it could not even pose a big fight and got completely dominated.

The AAP made a good debut in the Gujarat polls and saw a good vote percentage of 13 percent. Even without AAP, Congress n might have not won the polls as it becomes less than 40 percent.

Congress might have come in the second position and would have given tough competition. But it might have not won the elections by defeating the BJP as said by Rahul Gandhi.
