Couple tries to commit suicide by jumping into Hussainsagar

The historic Hussain Sagar in the heart of Hyderabad has acquired new infamy. The lake is now a favourite haunt in the city of people seeking to commit suicide. The Hussain sagar Lake Police have rescued a couple from committing suicide by jumping into the lake. According to police, Nalla Vinodkumar, 22, and Banoth Kumari, 19 tried to end their life as the parents of the both rejected their love.

During interrogation the couple they worked at a kirana store near Monda market, and fell in love. A few days ago the girl's family came to know about their love affair and decided to get the girl married with her brother-in-law and fixed wedding.

By taking hasty decision, they came to tank bund near Children's Park at 10.30 pm and tried to commit suicide by jumping into the lake. Immediately, the available patrolling lake police noticed them and saved them with the help of a rope.

Inspector K Sreedevi handed over Vinod to his parents and Bhanoth Kumari was kept at Bansilalpet Children Home for the night. This year, Lake Police has rescued 95 people so far during suicide bids, while another 30 drowned before they could be saved.
