In a quick turn of events, the Delhi court said that the probe in the Aircel-Maxis should be completed till May 4. The case was filed against former Union Minister P Chidambaram and his son Karthi.

The Enforcement Directorate(ED) told Ajay Kumar Kuhar, the Special Judge in this case that they are waiting for the response from Letters Rogatory (LRs) that have sent to four countries in connection with the case.

“Investigation is yet to be conducted, so arguments of cognisance (of the charge sheet) can be deferred,” Additional Solicitor General Sanjay Jain told the court.

The agencies are probing how come Karti Chidambaram has managed to receive clearance from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board(FIPB) in the Aircel-Maxis deal in 2006 when his father Chidambaram was Union Home Minister when the UPA was in power.

Both CBI and ED have dubbed P. Chidambaram as accused in this case for approving this much talked about deal, when he was the Finance Minister. The agencies went to say that Chidambaram has benefitted some persons beyond his limits.
