A Chandigarh court has issue summons to Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments of a section of people. He was directed to appear before it on September 19th.
The court asked the cops to hand over the summons to Rahul by hand as the notices issued earlier on eight occasions has remained unserved.
Arvind Thakur, a lawyer, filed a petition in December 2011 accusing Rahul Gandhi of making certain references to people of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar going to other states to work and beg.
On Nov 14th, 2011, Rahul asked people of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar how long they will be going to Maharashtra and Punjab for begging and for work. The petitioner alleged Gandhi has hurt the sentiments of people of UP and Bihar working in other states.
