A serving Parliamentarian faced a big shock after he was slapped with a 10 years rigorous jail term by a court. Hearing a petition the court gave the orders in connection with an old case. The case traces back around 12 years back. The orders were given on Wednesday.
Going into details, the Kavaratti Court in Lakshadweep slapped the MP of the Union Territory Mohammad Faizal with 10 years of rigorous Jail term in connection with an attempted murder case. The alleged case is said to have happened in 2009.
The case says that one Mohammad Salih was attacked by a group of men and Faizal is said to be one of the attackers. In total 23 people are named as the accused in the attempted murder case and four of them were given bail in the case.
Now the local court has reportedly issued orders canceling the bail that was given to the accused and gave orders for the rigorous jail term for the MP. There are high chances for the MP to move a higher court to challenge the verdict given by the local court.
Media reports say that the victim and the suspect who is now the MP had some issues and things escalated in an issue. Following this, the MP reportedly attacked the victim with a gang. The attack left the victim to sustain serious injuries.
Victim Mohammad Salih underwent treatment for the injuries and the treatment is said to have lasted for a few months. He had started a legal battle against the MP and now the lower court gave orders against the MP who is serving as the Lakshadweep MP since 2014.
