A lower court had shocked a former state chief of the saffron party Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP). Hearing a petition, the court directed the family to pay a sum of Rs.1 crore as compensation besides paying Rs 50,000 every month to the petitioner. The judgement came in connection with a domestic violence case.

Diving into the case, Sri Lakshmi Keerthi, daughter-in-law of former Andhra Pradesh President Kanna Lakshminarayana had approached a city court against her in-laws on the grounds of domestic violence.

After the arguments, the city court issued directives to Kanna Lakshminarayana and his family members to pay an amount of Rs 1 crore as compensation as she was mistreated earlier.

In addition to this, the Kanna family was also directed by the city court to pay Rs 1,000 towards the court expenses, and every month the petitioner should be paid Rs 50,000. As the petitioner spent Rs 50,000 towards the treatment of her ill daughter, the city court asked her in-laws to pay the treatment amount along with an interest of 12 percent.

Sri Lakshmi Keerthi tied the knot with Kanna Lakshminarayana's son Kanna Nagaraju in 2006. They were cousins and have known each other for a long time. The duo had a love marriage.

However, Keerthi started to have a tough time since 2015. Her marriage life went for a toss and started to face troubles. She said that she and her daughter were sent out of the house. The couple was blessed with a daughter who was born in 2013. The girl was named Koushika Manasa.

It is also said that the petitioner's husband developed an extramarital affair with another woman and started to harass her. Unable to bear the situation, she had knocked on the doors of the city court against her in-laws.

Seeking protection for her and her daughter and accommodation for her daughter, Kanna Lakshminarayana's daughter-in-law had approached the city court. Satisfied with the arguments, the city court directed Kanna Lakshminarayana, his son and wife to pay compensation and alimony every month. However, Kanna Lakshminarayana and his family are yet to comment on the issue.
