Covid-19 fear: Education Ministry cancels class 10 Board exam, postpones 12th exam

The prevailing situations in the country triggered by the ongoing Coronavirus have forced the Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take a crucial call on CBSE Board Class 10, 12 Exams.

The Education Ministery has announced that to cancel the class exams and postpone the class 12 exams given the pandemic scare in the country. As per the schedule, the CBSE exams were supposed to commence next month.

After announcing the postponement of class 12 exams, the Ministery said, it will decide on the new date to hold the exams on the 1st of June after reviewing the then situations.

As class 10 CBSE board exams have been cancelled, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said the exams will be promoted, based on the marks they got in the internal exams.

If the students are not happy with the marks they got in the internal exams, the students will be given a chance to write the exam after things get to normal.

"The Board Exams for Class Xth to be held from 4th May to June 14th, 2021 are hereby cancelled. The results of Class Xth Board will be prepared on the basis of an objective criterion to be developed by the Board. Any candidate who is not satisfied with the marks allocated to him/her on this basis will be given an opportunity to sit in an exam as and when the conditions are conducive to hold the exams," the Education Ministry said in the press release.

"The Board Exams for Class XIIth to be held from May 4th to June, 14th, 2021 are hereby postponed. These exams will be held hereafter. The situation will be reviewed on 1st June 2021 by the Board, and details will be shared subsequently. A notice of at least 15 days will be given before the start of the examinations," the press release added.

It has to be noted that, earlier Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra have announced the postponement of the board exams with the alarming situations in the respective states.
