The holy shrine of Lord Ayyappa in Sabarimala which was opened for the devotees on November 16 for the Mandala-Makaravillakku season reported 39 Covid-19 infections so far.

It is believed that out of the 39 Covid-19 infections, 27 infected people are the staff members of the Travancore Devaswom Board. They were shifted to the Covid-19 centers accordingly.

Following this, the Travancore Devaswom Board has provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits for the workers working at the Sabarimala shrine.

The authorities have increased precautionary measures like conducting Antigen tests in the bus stations and railway stations at Thiruvananthapuram, Tiruvalla, Chengannur, and other places.

Every year, lakhs of devotees will reach Sabarimala for the Mandala-Makaravillakku season to offer prayers to the preceding deity. Given the Covid-19 situations, a limited member of devotees was being allowed.

The devotees entering the shrine should produce the submit which declares them negative of Covid-19. Without the certificate, devotees will not be allowed into the temple.
