Update: 2021-05-19 07:46 GMT
Since the Covid has hit India, doctors came to the rescue of the country. Despite knowing the fact that they might catch the virus and lose their lives to the pandemic, they are treating the pandemic patients.

The ongoing second wave gave them a big task. They have been working for extra hours. No words can describe the work they have been doing and the sacrifices they make in the tough and testing times.

Highlighting the services offered by the doctors, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) said, 270 doctors in the country have succumbed to the virus since the second wave has started.

In 2020, India lost as many as 748 doctors to the virus, while 270 doctors breathed their last in the second wave. It has to be noted that we are into only five months of this year.

Bihar saw the highest number of doctors' deaths in the second wave with 78, followed by Uttar Pradesh(37), national capital Delhi(29), and Andhra Pradesh(22).

IMA president Dr. JA Jayalal expressed his concerns over the second wave of the pandemic and said the wave is emerging as fatal for healthcare workers.
