Covid-19 Caseload In India Heading Towards 7.5 Million Mark

India, the second worst-affected country with the Covid-19 outbreak yet again reported over 60,000 fresh Covid-19 infections taking the total of cases to near 7.5 million.

In the past 24 hours, India detected as many as  61,871 fresh infections, which takes the total toll of the infections in the country to  7,494,551.

In a shocking development, India reported over 1,000 casualties with 1033. With this, the total fatalities in connection with the pandemic zoomed to 114,031. Over the past week, fresh fatalities in India remained below 900.

On the other hand, a total of 72,614 patients were cured of the pandemic in 24 hours, pushing the total recoveries to 6,597,209. India's recovery rate rose to over 88 percent.

With 6,597,209 patients out of the total 7,494,551 infections being cured and getting discharged from the hospitals accordingly, there are 7,83,311  active cases in the country.

Telangana reported 1436 fresh infections in 24 hours taking the total caseload to 2,22,111. With 1,98,790 patients beating the virus, the active cases in the state stood at 22,050.

Other Telugu state Andhra Pradesh's caseload zoomed to  7,79,146, including  3676 fresh infections reported on Saturday. So far, 6406 patients have lost their lives to the virus.

According to the data collected by the Johns Hopkins University, a total of  39,502,909 patients have been diagnosed with the virus globally. While 27,148,927patients have been recovered from the virus, 1,106,705 patients have succumbed to the virus.
