Cricket Australia banned Steve Smith and David Warner from International and Domestic Cricket for a period of one year for involvement in ball tampering on the third day of the 3rd Test Match against South Africa. Whereas, Opener Bancroft was banned for 9 months.
During the internal enquiry, Cricket Australia came to know that only Steve Smith, David Warner and Bancroft have prior information about ball tampering, and the trio alone were involved in the violation of norms. However, Australian Cricket Board permitted the three cricketers to play Club Cricket and even Indian Premier League starting next month. They will also have to offer voluntary service in community cricket for 100 hours.
Renshaw, Maxwell and Burns will replace the three banned players for the fourth Test Match against South Africa. Australia has to win the final test to draw the series.
Already, Smith and Warner stepped down as captains of IPL Franchises Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. While RR choose Rahane to lead the side, Sunrisers are yet to announce the new skipper.
