Crime Branch Raids Office Of News Website With BJP's Complaint!

Update: 2022-11-01 05:35 GMT
The popular news website The Wire has been in the news due to various reasons for the past few days. After the website carried out a piece of news on Bharatiya Janata Party IT cell head Amit Malviya. The party leader did not like it and filed a case.

Amit Malviya said that the news website tried to bring a negative image to him and his party. The case was registered with the Delhi Wing of Crime branch. Now the police raided the houses of the editors of the website. After raiding the houses, the cops reportedly seized a few electronic devices.

The information is that the searches were conducted at the residences of editors of The Wire in Delhi and Mumbai. They reportedly cooperated with the raids and handed over the devices cops asked them for.

The Wire said the raids happened at the residences of Siddharth Varadarajan, MK Venu, Sidharth Bhatia, deputy editor Jahnavi Sen, and product-cum-business head Mithun Kidambi. Despite cooperation, a lawyer of the website was reportedly mistreated by the cops while searching the Delhi office.

The Wire claimed that while the Delhi Crime Branch raided the office in Bhagat Singh Market in Delhi, one of the lawyers was pushed out of the office by the investigating officers. Hard disks from two computers were taken by the cops after raiding the offices.

The Wire landed in big trouble after carrying out an editorial against Amit Malviya in which the website said that a few posts that are against the Bharatiya Janata Party were removed from the Meta-owned Instagram with the involvement of Amit Malviya. The news caught everyone’s attention.

However, the news carried out by The Wire turned out to be a flat story. Given the popularity of The Wire, it is a big issue and no one would have thought that the website would make a big blunder. A normal story turning flat is one thing and an editorial falling flat raised many doubts about the alleged negligence.

Even in the apology, The Wire did not say sorry to BJP or Amit Malviya and simply blamed the Meta glitch. This did not go well with the BJP leader and he moved the Delhi Crime Police.
