Nearly 1/3rd (31 percent) of the council of ministers in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet have been facing criminal cases. While 24 out of the 78 Ministers have criminal cases, 14 among them were charged with cases such as rape, murder attempts, communal violence and violation of norms at the time of elections.
About 92 percent (72 out of 78) of Union Cabinet Ministers are crorepatis. On an average, Each of the Ministers have assets worth Rs 12.94 crore. The average assets of the newly appointed 19 ministers stood at Rs 8.73 crore.
Rajya Sabha MP from Madhya Pradesh MJ Akhbar is the richest among the newly inducted Ministers. He declared assets worth Rs 44.90 crore.
Arun Jaitley, Harsimrat Badal and Piyush Goel are the Ministers with highest assets in Modi's cabinet.
40 out of 78 Cabinet Ministers fall in the age group of 41 to 60. While 31 Ministers were aged above 60, 3 Ministers declare they fit in Below 40 category. 9 out 78 Ministers (12 percent) are women.
