Update: 2015-09-05 16:28 GMT
Defence Minister Monohar Parrikar announced the implementation of One Rank One Pension (OROP) on Saturday. "OROP finally a reality. Many thanks to Hon. PM, BJP President, FM, RRM & all the veterans whose guidance & support has helped in resolving the 40 yrs old issue. I join many others in saluting the brave and selfless soldiers," he told.

However, Ex-servicemen who were protesting from the past 83 days for OROP at the Jantar Mantar weren't happy with 6 of the 7 points declared by the Defence Minister. The only one to get their approval - Implementation of OROP from July 1st (2014) with 2013 as the base year for calculation of pension.

Major issues is the time period for re-fixing of Pension - While Ex-servicemen want it to be for every 2 years, Center firm on its stand for every 5 years.

Another key issue - Centre wishes to constitute one-member judicial committee and seek a report on implementation of OROP within 6 months. However, Veterans wants a 5-member Committee and report within 1 month.
