Indian Opener Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of 2019 World Cup as his recovery from the thumb injury wasn't fast enough.
In the match against Australia, The ball bowled by Pacer Pat Cummins hit the thumb of Dhawan. The Indian Batsman continued playing inspite of the injury and scored a match-winning 117 runs of 109 balls. Skipper Kohli and Head Coach Ravi Shastri decided to be patient and take a final call on Dhawan's replacement based on his recovery speed. Latest examination proved Dhawan is taking more time than expected to become normal.
Wicket-keeper Batsman Rishabh Pant replaces Shikhar Dhawan in the 15-member India Squad. He scored Test Centuries in both England and Australia apart from having a good IPL 12 season. His inclusion in the squad as replacement for Dhawan doesn't come as a surprise. Whether Kohli will prefer Vijay Shankar or Rishanb Pant in the Playing XI is a million dollar question?
