Indian captain MS Dhoni quit as brand ambassador of real estate firm Amrapali after the Twitter uproar.
Buyers who invested on the flats of Amrapali Sapphire Society at Sector 45 in Noida began trolling Dhoni for associating with the real estate company which failed to meet the deadlines. Residents tagged Dhoni in their tweets demanding him either to disassociate with the firm or mount pressure on the builder to complete the housing project soon.
The hashtag #AmrapaliMisuseDhoni attracted 70,000 tweets. Soon, Dhoni decided to quit to stay out of the controversy. Even his Wife Sakshi Singh Dhoni is going to quit as one of the Directors of Amrapali.
After quitting as brand ambassador, Residents accuse Dhoni of escaping from responsibility. Amrapali's executive director Shiv Priya says Dhoni didn't quit voluntarily but the company requested him to do so as few residents are making allegations with vested interest.
