In a shocking turn of events, the Amalapuram town in Andhra Pradesh was set on fire with angry protestors hitting the roads demanding the retention of the Konaseema name to the newly carved district. After staging a few protests, the protesters took the violent path to show their anger.
Not just Andhra Pradesh, the whole nation is looking at the Amalapuram region to know what is going on. After damaging a few buses, the protesters injured cops and as a result, restrictions were imposed by the authorities.
Now the Amalapuram issue has turned political with Janasena and the ruling YSRCP blaming each other. It is said that one suspect who is identified as Anyam Sai was behind the protests and he played a key role in the intense protests. Showing Sai's pictures with Government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, Janasena is painting the blame on the ruling party.
The YSRCP leaders are also reacting strongly with pictures of the suspect from Pawan Kalyan's rally. In the pictures, Sai can be seen taking a selfie from the rally. On social media, the supporters and workers of both parties are aggressively attacking each other.
The parties trying to use the issue as a political weapon to target the opponent is disgusting and is not appreciable. Konaseema is under fire right now and it is the need of the hour for the parties to work on bringing the situation under control.
It is a worrisome development to see the parties attacking each other in the middle of the crisis. No matter which party he belongs to, the suspect Anyam Sai should be arrested and punished if he is proven guilty. Instead of demanding his arrest, the parties are busy attacking each other.
The Konaseema region, famous for its old temples and hospitality is in the news for the wrong reason. In the past, no such thing happened in Amalapuram and surrounding areas. The issue is a dark episode in its history and there is a need to correct it by taking appropriate steps. Let us hope that the situation won't get tense yet again and no protests hit the region.
