DMK announces candidates' list for the polls, Stalin's son to join electoral politics
The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(DMK) is hopeful of winning the upcoming Assembly elections that are slated to commence on April 6. With AIADMK going for the polls without Amma, Jayalalithaa, DMK is seeing it as a golden opportunity to win the elections.
Party Chief, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M. Karunanidhi's son, M.K.Stalin released the list of party candidates for all the 173 Assembly constituencies. The party had opted to retain a major share of sitting MLAs to improve the winning chances.
Stalin's son Udhayanidhi Stalin, is all set to make his debut into electoral politics. Udhayanidhi is a budding hero in Kollywood and served as a star campaigner for the party on some occasions.
The DMK chief announced the candidates' list at a press briefing held at DMK headquarters Anna Arivalayam. He said, he will contest from the Kolathur constituency and will field the nomination papers on March 15.
The DMK has fielded Thanga Tamil Selvan and T Sampathkumar against Deputy CM O. Panneerselvam(ops) and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswam(EPS) respectively.
The DMK's alliance consists of Congress, the Left, MDMK, VCK, and a few small parties in the state. Out of the 234 constituencies, DMK made a seat-sharing arrangement of contesting from the 173 seats and allotting 61 seats for the alliance parties.
The opposition Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(DMK) is on a long battle to come to power for the past decade. The party faced a humiliating defeat in the 2011 elections. Since then, the party has been trying to come to power and the current situations and favoring DMK.
