A doctor working at a health center had surprised everyone by performing Sterilisation Surgery close to three times the limit of the surgeries the doctors were supposed to conduct. The record number of surgeries taking place at a camp conducted by the government led to a big controversy.

Media reports say that the free sterilization camp was conducted at the Surguja district in Chhattisgarh earlier in August. As a doctor was supposed to conduct only 30 Sterilisation Surgeries in a day. However, the doctor conducted surgeries three times the actual limit.

A doctor had conducted 101 Sterilisation Surgeries in seven hours. With the issue taking place at the camp that was sponsored by the state government, a probe was launched into the issue to know the details of the surgeries count. After the doctor faced allegations of being negligent, the government called for a probe.

However, the Principal Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare department of Chhattisgarh said, no complaints from the women who underwent the surgeries came that they are facing any issues. But the probe was called as the doctor performed more surgeries than the limit he was supposed to do.

The doctor was accused of violating the guidelines in performing the surgeries. The guidelines say, the doctors should conduct not more than 30 surgeries in a day. As he had crossed the limit, the probe was ordered, he said.
