Old timers in Hyderabad would recall the double-decker buses plying majestically on the roads. The double-deckers used to mainly ply on the Tank Bund and used to add to the allure of Hyderabad city. However, the vagaries of time ensured that the double deckers are taken off the roads and the current generation hasn't seen them in many years.
But, Minister and TRS working president KTR now wants them back. Yes. KTR on Saturday recalled his childhood when he travelled on the double-deckers. He recalled the fun and the frolic and tweeted that how nice it would be if the double deckers are back on Hyderabad roads. He tagged the tweet to transport minister Puvvada Ajay.
He promptly responded saying that he would look into the issue. But, the detractors say that KTR's tweet is nothing but a vote-catching ploy in the coming GHMC elections. 'Such gimmicks are aimed at wooing the young voters. The buses were taken off for a reason. Travelling on some roads has become difficult for the double deckers and they were taken off for that very reason. The issue is being raked up only to catch the votes,' said a BJP leader.
