When the much-anticipated Local body polls are going on in full swing across the city, an unwanted twist came after the election was postponed at a polling booth in one of the suburban areas in the city.
The local body election in Old Malakpet, 26 division was postponed after the Election commission printed the symbol of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) CPMâs candidate in the place of the Communist Party of India(CPI) candidate.
The Hyderabad wing of CPI responded quickly and took the issue to the notice of the State Election Commission. Based on the complaint, the SEC issued orders to cancel the voting.
The SEC orders state that the voting in the 69 polling centers in Old Malakpet will be held tomorrow. The election body has also imposed a ban on exit polls as the Malakpet division will have elections tomorrow.
