ED Attaches Assets Worth 1,600 Crores Of Sasikala Under The Benami Act

V.K. Sasikala, a close aide of former Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalitha and expelled leader of AIADMKA who was arrested in February 2019 was sentenced two years of jail imprisonment. Looks like her news is still making headlines.

It has been reported that Sasikala's properties worth Rs 1,600 crores were attached under the provisions of the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act.

Reportedly, nine properties which are located in Chennai, Puducherry, and Coimbatore have purchased post November 8,2016, demonetization.

The IT officials have sent a communication to the special prison authorities of the Parappana Agrahara in Bengaluru, where Sasikala has been imprisoned since her arrest in 2017 in a 'disproportionate assets'.

The sources have also claimed that, post the demonetization, she reportedly purchased these properties by using the demonetized notes worth Rs1500 crore under fictitious names.
