YRS Congress party, MLA Vundavalli Sridevi, who represents Tadikonda assembly constituency landed in a new controversy. An inquiry will take place to find out her caste. Tadikonda's seat was reserved for the Scheduled Castes, and she is allegedly Christian.
The district joint collector of Guntur, A S Dinesh Kumar, who also holds the posts of the additional magistrate and chairman of district-level scrutiny committee has sent notices to Sridevi and asked her to appear before the committee at 3 pm on November 26.
Dinesh Kumar has asked Sridevi to appear before the committee with all necessary documents and certificates that prove her caste and if she fails to do so, the committee will take action on her.
"You can bring your parents/guardian and blood relatives to assist you during the inquiry," the joint collector said.
The inquiry has begun following the directions of President of India Ram Nath Kovind.
He has written to then chief secretary LV Subramanyam and he has asked the Guntur Authorities to look into this.
Sridevi explained that there caste and religion are nor related. She also added that Caste should not be identified on the grounds of religious faith.
