Election Commission is currently making necessary arrangements for conducting Assembly and Lok Sabha Polls simultaneously. As many as 40 lakh 3rd Generation EVMs will be getting ready by November 2018. At the same time, Training Sessions are going to be conducted for the Master Trainers from first week of next month in all the states.
In 2014, Election Commission used 3rd Generation EVMs for the first time in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. These were used even in the recent Karnataka Assembly Polls. Few EVMs were found dysfunctional during the Karnataka Polls. Officials have been studying what could be the reason behind it.
Measures were taken to develop EVMs which can handle extreme weather conditions, such as high temperatures in Rajasthan and low temperatures in Ladakh. IIT Professors Team from Delhi, Mumbai and Bilaay will be monitoring the functioning of 3rd Generation EVMs. All the details regarding the EVMs have been computerized to taken action against those responsible if any wrongdoings come to the notice.
