Elections In 79 Assembly Seats In Coming Four Months

Update: 2020-12-21 08:02 GMT
As many as 79 assembly constituencies in the 117-seat Telangana assembly are going to face polls of some sort or the other. These elections will tell which way the wind is blowing and will outlay the contours of the 2023 assembly elections.

For instance, the Nagarjunasagar assembly constituency will go to polls due to the sudden demise of sitting TRS MLA Nomula Narasimhaiah. This will be followed by the Graduate Constituency MLA elections. These elections will be held for six districts. Thus, the Khammam-Karimnagar-Nalgonda seat has 34 assembly constituencies. Similarly, the Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad constituency has 43 assembly seats. This election represents the mood of the educated and graduate voters of as many as 77 seats. This will be followed by the elections to the two municipal corporations of Warangal and Khammam. The jurisdiction of these two corporations would cover five to six assembly constituencies.

Similarly, there would be elections to Siddipet, Nakrekal and Achampet municipalities, which are part of assembly seats. These elections will tell us about the urbal voters' pulse. In addition, there would be elections for the Secunderabad cantonment board too. All these in fact are like a mid-term public opinion survey for the TRS. So, watch out for intense political activity in the coming days.
