Prisoners in Maharashtra Jails have got a good news. Excellence in Yoga will permit the inmates reduce three months of their jail term.
Speaking about the new provision, Maharashtra's Additional Director General of Prisons BK Upadhyay confirms Prisoners who excelled in yoga will be rewarded with a maximum remission up to 3 months. He says practicing Yoga in prisons isn't new but now it has been added to the reformation process.
Maharashtra Government has given full powers to Additional Director General of Prisons regarding this provision. Yerwada Cetral Prison, where Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt was lodged, in Pune was the first jail in the state to make use of this initiative. Around 500 prisoners will be practicing various Yoga asanas from the first week of January 2016.
