Here's a new problem for the ruling TRS in Telangana. Those councillors and local leaders who have been denied tickets to contest the municipal elections are now leaving the party in drones and are throwing their lot behind the opposition. Several leaders have resigned from the TRS in the municipal councils on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
For instance, TRS councillor R Santhoshi of Badangpet has resigned from the TRS after he was not renominated to contest the elections. She and her husband and former Badangpet TRS president Srinivas Reddy have joined the Congress Party. This is being seen as a major shock to the TRS as Reddy is quite popular locally. Another locally influential TRS leader has joined the BJP in Gurramguda. All these show that the local leaders are unhappy with the decisions being taken by the party leadership. Santhoshi and her husband Reddy have alleged that even local MLA Teegala Krishna Reddy did not help them.
If sources are to be believed, many more TRS leaders on the outskirts of Hyderabad are likely to leave the party if they are deniced party tickets. The BJP and the Congress are welcoming them with open arms and are giving them tickets to contest.
