The opposition Congress party faced a jolt with the expelled leaders writing to party President Sonia Gandhi to ask her to rise above the family and run the party by instituting a mutual trust.

Nine expelled leaders including former MP Santosh Singh and former minister Satyadev Tripathi sent the letter. In the letter, the leaders asked Sonia Gandhi to restore the Constitutional values.

The leaders stressed that the party reaming alive and strong is the need of the country, especially during the tough times of the democratic values and the social fabric in the nation being scattered.

They urged Sonia Gandhi to rise above the affinity for the family and restore the democratic values and run the party by instilling mutual trust among the party leaders.

They went on to say that leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi built the country with democratic values but the Congress workers are under confusion currently.

Earlier, 23 Congress party senior leaders have written to Sonia Gandhi to sought an overall change in party leadership and special care should be taken at the micro-level.
