Experts Believe Vaccine Candidate Developed By Moderna Might Reach India!
The US-based biotechnology company Moderna came up with a piece of good news that the vaccine candidate produced by them is nearly 95 percent effective in preventing the Coronavirus.
Well, India has something to cheer about curing the ongoing pandemic. Experts claim that the country is likely to receive a vaccine developed by Moderna to cure respiratory disease.
To predict that India will receive Moderna's vaccine candidate, the experts have quoted that Moderna has received fundings from Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) Coalition to manufacturer the vaccine.
The CEPI is a part of the Vaccine Alliance COVAX which has announced earlier to distribute not less than 2 billion Covid-19 vaccines to the countries that fall under the category of low- and middle-income nations.
It has to be noted that Moderna received funding of $1million to develop the vaccine. As CEPI gave funding, the US-based company has to supply vaccines for the countries.
However, India will receive vaccines along with other middle-income nations. On the other hand, there is no clarity on how many vaccine doses will reach India, which is the second most populated country.
One point that should be noted here is Moderna has not inked any deal with the Indian companies to supply the Covid-19 vaccines to India. Moderna's first focus will be on supplying vaccines to the United States. Later, the company will shift focus on supplying vaccines to low- and middle-income nations.
