Update: 2014-05-24 05:00 GMT
YSR Congress party is now seeking recognized state-level party status in residuary Andhra Pradesh from Election Commission based on its performance in the General Elections.

As per the records, YSR Congress received 44.4 percent of votes polled in entire Seemandhra region in Assembly polls and bagged about 67 MLA seats. The total votes polled for YSRC - 1,28,40,033.

YSRC is in a hurry to get recognized state-level party status as it could use whip on the MLAs and MPs who are planning to shift loyalties to TDP. Jagan wishes to use Anti-Defection Law on jump jilanis to ensure their disqualification.

Securing about 6 percent of valid votes and 2 elected MLAs is enough to receive recognized party status. Although it will have no problem in Seemandhra, the situation is different in Telangana as YSRC managed to get just 3.4 percent votes even though it won 3 MLA seats.
