In a shocking development, Infosys CEO Salil Parekh received summons from the Ministry of Finance with the new IT portal facing some issues making it difficult to file the reports.
In the summons, the Ministry asked as to why the new IT Portal is facing technical glitches even after two and half of its launch. He was asked why the issues were not addressed and resolved.
"Ministry of Finance has summoned Salil Parekh, MD&CEO @Infosys on 23/08/2021 to explain to hon'ble FM as to why even after 2.5 months since launch of new e-filing portal, glitches in the portal have not been resolved. In fact, since 21/08/2021 the portal itself is not available," the Ministry said in a tweet.
The representatives of the company met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in this regard earlier and the upcoming meeting marks the second meeting over the glitches row.
The summons were issued to Infosys CEO in the issue a day after the company said due to the maintenance the web portal appears inaccessible and the update on the accessibility of the portal would be announced soon.
In a statement, the company said that they regret causing inconvenience to the customers.
The reason behind Infosys CEO receiving summons is that the company got the contract to develop the prestigious website which was brought to ease the way of filing income tax returns.
