A CBI Court Today convicted former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and 15 others in a Fodder Scam case. Six Accused including ex-CM Jagannath Mishra have been acquitted. The CBI Court would pronounce quantum of punishment on January 3rd, 2018.
The case is related to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 89.27 lakh from Deoghar Treasury between 1991 and 1994. All the convicts were taken into custody soon after the verdict was pronounced.
Post his conviction, Lalu Prasad Yadav commented: 'In end Truth will win'.
As much as Rs 900 crore was allegedly diverted from the Chaibasa Treasury for two decades. Eleven out of 38 individuals on whom charge sheet has been filed has passed away. While two accused were convicted in 2006-07, Three accused turned approvers.
