As a major development in the Antilia bomb scare case, Ex Mumbai Police boss Param Bir Singh who was sacked from his post in connection with the case hs moved the Mumbai High Court to seek a CBI investigation against Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.
The Bombay High Court heard the petition filed by Param Bir Singh. But the Court gave the former Police boss a rude shock by chiding him on why no FIR was filed on the allegations he is making against the Home Minister.
Calling the FIR the first step in the investigations, the Court asked Singh why he hasn't filed an FIR on his allegations. Are police officers, ministers and politicians all above the law? Are you above the law?. Why the law should be set aside for you?, Bombay High Court Chief Justice CJ Dutta said.
"There has to be an FIR to investigate. Who stops you from filing an FIR? Prima facie observation is there can be no investigation without an FIR. "Without an FIR where is the scope for us to exercise our jurisdiction?", the Court said. The Court reserved its verdict.
Earlier, the Ex-Police Chief made many heads turn at him with his letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. In the sensation letter, he accused Home Minister Anil Deshmukh of directing the Police officers to collect Rs 100 crore every month from bars and restaurants.
The issue became a mich-talked-about issue and this has also caused a rift among the ally parties in the Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition government reportedly.
