The Cricketer-turned-Politician Gautam Gambhir once proved his big heart. He has announced that his GG (Gautam Gambhir) foundation will take care of 100 children of martyrs who made a supreme sacrifice for the country. "Making these angels smile is one of the biggest achievements of my life. Congratulations to GG Foundation! Proud to share that we will be taking care of 100 children of martyrs. Their fathers sacrificed their lives for our nation and now it's our turn to show how grateful we are!" tweeted Gambhir.
The GG foundation focuses on supporting the children of the officers who sacrificed their lives. The education is also funded 100 percent by this foundation. The NGO has a community kitchen where the poor are given free food. Besides this, the NGO also aims at empowering adolescent girls( 15-18 years).
He contested from East Delhi on a BJP ticket in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and emerged victoriously.
Talking about his cricket career, he was awarded the ICC test player of the year in 2009. In ODIs, he scored 5238 runs which include 11 centuries with an average of 3968.
His brilliant knocks of 57 and 97 in ICC T20 world cup and ICC ODI world cup finals respectively helped India to win both the trophies. His 97 in ODI world cup helped India lift the world cup after 28 years.
