As a sensational development in the Vinayaka Chavithi festival row, the Andhra Pradesh High Court heard a petition that was filed over the setting up of Ganesh idols in public places in the wake of the Coronavirus fear. The Court heard the petition today.

The High Court said, the Ganesh Pandals cannot be permitted in public places and the idols should be set up as per the guidelines issued by the Andhra Pradesh government concerning the festival celebrations.

The issue made its way to the High Court after Dharmika Parishad had knocked on the doors of the court against setting up Ganesh Pandals in public places as the Corona fear was not over yet.

It has to be remembered that the other day, the Andhra Pradesh High Court gave its nod to festival celebrations in private places. The court's order was very well received by the Hindu groups and Right-wing bodies in the state and outside the state too.

The decision of announcing restrictions on Ganesh Chavithi celebrations in the state citing Covid as the reason did not go well with the opposition parties and the Hindu organisations. BJP AP Chief Somu Veerraju had earlier written to AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy saying that the festival celebrations should be permitted as they will follow all the Covid protocols.
