Ganta all set to join BJP in a week

Update: 2019-11-08 06:55 GMT
Maverick politico Ganta Srinivasa Rao is all set to join the BJP in a week's time. Yes. Finally, the fair-weather politician has decided to take the plunge. Ganta, who knows the art of being in the party in power and ditch the party that elected him, is going to repeat the same trend. He is set to leave the TDP, which helped him win the Assembly seat, and join the BJP, which is in power at the Centre, if not in the state.

Sources say that Ganta was uncomfortable in the TDP the moment it lost power. He saw no future in the party and kept away from key meetings. He had not attended even the key review meeting that Chandrababu Naidu participated in Vizag recently. This was a clear indication that he wanted to leave the TDP. He tried hard to get into the ruling YSRCP, but Jagan was very clear that he would have to resign his MLA post before joining the YSRCP. Ganta did not want to lose the MLA seat. Also, Jagan refused to accept any of the demand Ganga has placed before him.

That made Ganta to look for greener pastures in the saffron party. Last week he met BJP national secretary Ram Madhav and discussed the current political scenario in the state. Sources said Ram Madhav has discussed Ganta Srinivasa Rao's plans to join the BJP with Amit Shah and JP Nadda. A final call would be taken on the issue on November 11 or 12, after which Ganta is likely to join the BjP in the presence of Amit Shah.

Ganta Srinivasa Rao was a Congress MLA before he joined the Praja Rajyam. From Praja Rajyam, he re-joined the Congress. Later, he joined the TDP. Both the times, he was a minister in Andhra Pradesh. He was in the TDP for 2019 assembly elections. Though he has won from Vizag, his party lost the elections. Now, he finds TDP utterly useless and wants to move out  of the party.
