Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy said his government has decided to reject the refund of Rs 1.63 crore offered by Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal. "There is no question of accepting the money. Actually, The actor didn't get benefitted from the amount. Instead, It was use for remunerations of artistes and stage expenses," he told.

Apparently, Mohanlal's band 'Lalisom' perfomed at 35th National Games Opening Ceremony and it came at a cost of Rs 1.63 crore. Post this event, There is huge negativity being spread against Mohanlal citing the flop show of the band. Pained by the 'witch-hunt' on social media, Mohanlal has written a letter to Kerala Government informing that he is ready to refund the remuneration accepted. Kerala Government discussed about this matter in the cabinet meeting and decided not to accept the refund as Mohanlal's band has performed at National Games as per the agreement.

Malayalam Film Industry came in support of Mohanlal. Even Mamootty appealed people to stop witch-hunt saying Mohanlal has done the programme with good intentions.
