Update: 2020-06-25 06:56 GMT
The construction works in the Polavaram Project suspended with the pandemic is back on track as the work resumed. The workers who left the construction site during the lockout were also brought back.

Talking about the construction works, SE Nagi Reddy who is inspecting the work on-site said that the concrete works in spillway are on full swing and by the end of 2021 May, spillway will be complete by fixing 48 gates.

He went on to say that, once the floods get slow down, the vacancy in the Cofer dam will be replaced and the water will be averted to Godavi deltas as a bid to see that agriculture won't get effected in the basin. The Upper Lower Coffer Dam will be completed by 2021 July.

Polavram Project often cited as a dream project of Andhra Pradesh saw a speed in the construction works, ever since, YSRCP Supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy made it to the AP CM seat.

Just like Amravati, there are some allegations on the Polavaram project during the regime of TDP that the government didn't pay much attention to the development works.

The  Polavarm Project Spillway will be the biggest hydroelectric gravity dam that spans 50 lakh Cusecs of floodwater to the areas that are at the bottom. Earlier the record was under China which constructed the Three Gorges Dam to release floodwater. The Three Gorges Dam has only a capacity of 35 lakh Cusecs.

Water Resources Minister P. Anil Kumar Yadav who recently visited the  Polavaram dam site said that the dream project will be completed by December of 2021 and by July of 2022 water will be provided for the irrigation.
