Andhra Pradesh Balala Hakkula Sangham, a Hyderabad-based NGO, moved Lokayukta appealing it to direct AP & Telangana Governments to shut down all the Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) oulets after it found E.coli and Salmonella bacteria in its samples. While E.Coliu causes bloody diarrhoea, anaemia and kidney failure, Salmonella Bacteria leads to intestine disease, typhoid, gastroenteritis and enertic fever.

In response, Lokayukta served notices to Governments of Telugu States to submit a report on KFC by August 5th. KFC, however, brushed aside these allegations as baseless.

Food Analyst AV Krishna Kumari confirmed KFC food is unsafe for consumption after testing the samples collected from five outlets (Himayatnagar, Chikkadpally, Vidyanagar, ECIL Cross Road and Nacharam) at Government-run labs. She declares the samples containing E.coli and Salmonella are injurious to health.
