Harsha Kumar sentenced to 6 Months in Jail

Former Congress MP GV Harsha Kumar has received an imprisonment of 6 months in jail and a penalty of Rs 1,000 for obstructing a Government Officer from doing his duty. The Judgement was delivered by Rajahmundry Additional First Class Magistrate.

On May 25th in the Year 2007, Police took few people who violated Section 144. Harsha Kumar who is representing Amalapuram as MP then reached the police station, got into a heated argument with ASI and forcibly freed the people who were in the custody. A case was filed against the MP under Section 356 of IPC. Harsha Kumar was later arrested and released on bail.

In the final hearing of the case, Magistrate R Kishore Babu has sentenced Harsha Kumar to 6 months in prison. The court, however, permitted the former MP to appeal in the upper court within 30 days.
